What Our Past Students Are Saying

This course is perfect for any experience level. Whether you're a self-taught artist making your first project or a seasoned professional looking to break away from the industry and create your own passion project. The information and personal experiences shared by these three pros is so practical and honest and doesn't shy away from the nitty-gritty details that us artists tend to be intimidated by. Jake, Lee, and Will are the perfect trio to teach self-publishing. Their pooled knowledge strengthens the course 3X!

Michael Vallado Past Student

Your in-depth presentations, plus honest experiential anecdotes, were incredibly helpful. I've been a working artist for over 50 years, and there were quite a few moments when I wanted to say to each of you: Thank You for telling it like it is. Creating artful, salable content, working a business, envisioning and planning project outcomes, learning the nuts and bolts of self-promotion - it all rang true.

Robin Chilstrom Past Student

This should be a required course in all university curriculums! Since joining SVS, I have started my portfolio website, increased my exposure on social media, had two books published that I illustrated with a publisher, and am now on the verge of launching my online store and self-publishing my first children's book as an author/ illustrator. I feel like I have the tools to start getting my hands dirty! Thank you, guys, for pioneering the way for all us wayward creators out here in the wild.

Frequently Asked Questions
It's for all you dreamers and entrepreneurs out there! If you are an illustrator who wants to turn your idea for a book or product into reality, this class is for you.
Nope! Although it's helpful to have a book or product idea so you can hit the ground running, it's not required. The class can actually help you generate a book or product idea if you don't already have one.
Class kicks off on September 12, 2024! Each week, new content will be released until the course is done (9 weeks total).
The group Zoom meetings are every Thursday, alternating between 7pm PDT and 10am PDT. The first meeting is a Meet and Greet to get to know each other and starts at 7pm PDT on Sept 12. Please note: We switch to PST on Nov 3 in the US.
As long as SVSLearn is around! Once you purchase the class you are free to access the content anytime. Since your purchase never expires you can take as much time as you need to create the images that will end up in your portfolio.
Yes! We offer two options: 3 monthly payments of $267, or 5 monthly payments of $160. Please note that the 5 month payment plan is only available through July 8.
This class is intended for anyone who wants to publish their own book or product! The content is good for a beginner as you can use it as you build your skill set. Advanced students or professionals will be able to use the content immediately to start planning a product launch.
Possibly! The class includes a live Zoom session each week where the instructors will answer questions and talk about some of the common issues that students run into. However, the instructors aren't able to critique every student individually each week, due to time and cost.
Once you enroll, a student account will automatically be created for you. This is where you will find the class content, the bonus materials and the invite to the private discord group. Please note the main course content will be released on a weekly basis once the course officially kicks off. Each week, the course content will be released for you to watch on your own schedule. You'll also have the opportunity to join a live Zoom session with the instructors to ask any questions you may have.
We have the class broken into 9 weekly sessions, but you have as much time as you need to complete the course. Some parts of the course will take longer than others, so the overall length of time will vary from person to person. You always have access to the content so we encourage you to take as much time as you need to create your best work.
No, it is not. SPPro was designed to be a deep dive into self-publishing, with a live component for students to ask questions of the instructors. SVSLearn, on the other hand, is a self-directed curriculum geared toward building basic illustration skills through video-only instruction.
100% refund if you cancel by Week 2. 50% refund if you cancel by Week 3. No refunds after Week 3. But you'll love it so much you won't need one!
