Graphic Novels start to finish

Nate Hale explains from start to finish how you write and illustrate your own graphic novel. It's rare to find the trifecta in teaching this process but not only does Nate write and illustrate his popular graphic novel series, "Hazardous Tales" for Abrams but he's also a great teacher! Nate breaks down the process in a way that will help you understand the different parts of storytelling, how to use illustrations, where to use illustrations, what type of illustrations to use, how to layout your book, and much more. For anyone wanting to break into the publishing world of graphic novels this class is a great step. Ages 16 up.

Great Advice!

This is an easy to follow course. I like the way it's presented, in detail, but without over-explaining.

Loved how this course felt like a natural conversation with a friend whom you asked for advice on how to get started making a graphic novel. I also liked the one session, doodling -process all the way method. gives you all that you need and gives you space to be your own self as well.

I actually have a few reference books and a number of book ideas. When I went to Chautauqua, a number of times, it was suggested I take on Graphic Novels. Truly, as someone who has loved comics since childhood, it has been overwhelming up to this point. My New Year's commitment to myself is to DO THIS, whether it flies or doesn't. This really did help my resolve, (not to mention he used some of my Aunt Ann's best advice, of breaking down into smaller, manageable steps). I also love the idea of the timer. I would greatly recommend to anyone who is thinking of creating a GN. Thank you!

Yay for Nathan and his cruisey course. Got lots out of this. I am inspired again to go back to developing a graphic novel I've been wanting to do on NZ history. Not even at bottom step. I've still the manuscript to write. I'm excited and eager to start. only reason it's on star from full is that there is actually 6 steps in this presentation not 5. He doubled up on one number.

Loved this - I've read a couple of books on creating graphic novels but this was much more useful. Clearly explained and great, simple approach.

I just watched Nathan go over the steps he takes from manuscript to finished graphic novel. He actually illustrates his steps while talking, which is perfect for visual thinkers. For someone who's considering trying this storytelling format, this video will give you an idea of what to expect and confidence that it's a doable process as long as you plan everything out really well. He even reviews the common pitfalls that might happen if you don't plan ahead of time. Some of his own mistakes and lessons he shares actually made me shudder, so I'm very grateful to Nathan for sharing his process.
